THE EUROPEAN Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries says steel demand will continue to grow throughout the Eurozone, despite a pronounced slowdown in the EU economy. It sees the slowdown worsening and demand for steel growing more slowly as 2009 progresses, with a disproportionate amount of that growth fulfilled by imports from outside the EU.
