THE FREIGHT Transport Association in Scotland is concerned over Scottish Development Department proposals to implement a Waiting Prohibition Order at Blackford, in Perthshire, which would have the effect of denying the town to drivers using the A9.
The Association claims there has been a decreasing number of facilities for bed and breakfast on the route as more towns are by-passed by the new A9. The effect has been to disrupt schedules and place drivers in danger of losing driving time, or alternatively risk exceeding the daily driving limit. If Tayside Region approves and adopts the same policy as the Scottish Development Department, Blackford could become a no-go area for commercial vehicle drivers. The Order has been publicised and is expected to come into force in a month or two.
