CLAIMS that some operators in the Kent area are using TIR registered vehicles on domestic haulage while paying the lower rate of tax have been made by a haulier this week.
Canterbury haulier Geoffrey Fry told CM of operators who cut their costs by up to a whopping £880 a year by only paying the private rate of £50 for their vehicles.
But this week officials of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre at Swansea warned that operators using this method to cut their costs face the risk of prosecution and a bill for back duty on tl vehicles.
