RMC is axing 80 jobs in its cement division's Rugby and South Ferriby plants, including a number of drivers.
The job cuts come despite a 24% rise in interim profits. Further job losses have not been ruled out by the company, depending on how well costs are kept under control.
It's only two months since RMC decided to bring its logistics operation back in-house when its three-year contract with TNT ends in November (CM 3 June).
But a spokesman says the job losses are not related to RMC
