Due to a shortage of 4x2 tractor units less than five years old, they're now fetching the same money as their 6x2 equivalents, reports Stuart Wolstenholme, used truck sales manager at West Pennine's Scania dealership in Middleton, Manchester. "We've even contemplated taking axles off 6x2s to meet the demand, but that can throw up all sorts of engineering complications," he says. "It affects the ABS, you have to after the chassis and you have to find a set of fuel tanks to f if up the space."
