Mr, Malcolm Holdsworth will be remembered for his association with Bouts-Tillotson Transport, Ltd., and the Holdsworth and Hanson Group, two of the leading British road haulage organizations, which were acquired by the Road Haulage Executive some 21 years ago.
. He writes: " My brother Donald and were not particularly anxious to continue our association with our companies after nationalization and therefore looked for postures new. With this in mind, in May, 1949, my father; Mr. Charles Holdsworth, and I visited South Africa and Canada, "During our visit here we travelled to Rhodesia and it was then that we were offered the sale of the Clan Transport Co., Ltd. Our offer Was accepted by cable white we were half• way across the Atlantic on our way to America.
" it was then necessary to engage a manager and, one of our old employees at the Glasgow depot, Mr. A. S. Munro, was appointed and came out here in September, 1949: " The directors of the company include my father, my brother and myself."
