DRIVERS WHOSE satellite-navigation systems send them down a narrow lane in Staffordshire are finding themselves ending up in the courts.
Staffordshire County Council acted earlier this year to try to stop trucks of more than six metres driving down Park Lane, Chedclleton. Although a sign has been up for several months, trucks are still using the lane, and now police have begun to prosecute.
Last week, truck driver Travis Andrews, 37, from Sheffield was lined £100 by North Staffordshire magistrates after admitting driving without due care and attention and causing damage to a corner wall.
Another driver, Mark Garnett, 43, from Huddersfield, was lined £50 on the same day at the court for a similar offence.
Both drivers blamed their sat-nay systems for directing them down the lane.
A spokesman for Staffordshire County Council reveals that there have been more than 100 incidents of trucks going down the lane, despite the signs, and that police have started to take action,
