Any sort ot involvement with any local authority is good because in the past there has been no involvement at all. I remember when the idea of this was first mooted back in 1998 or 1999 and turning up at meetings where there were council officials in charge of roads who openly admitted they had no idea of the weights, dimensions or needs of trucks.
"I think if there was one thing I would ask for it would be for more parking in the area and facilities for those working in the industry. Although with this issue there's never support from local operators because they never need to use the truck parks here -the benefits go to people from outside the region.
"We always have congestion at certain points, particularly at peak times. Either end of the Tyne Tunnel is usually bad, but we've been talking about a second Tyne crossing for years. We'll probably be talking about it until diesel runs out.
"The important thing though is to have dialogue with local authorities it's never happened before and that has got to bring benefits."
