INTHE late '90s, the Department for Transport decided that it would allow trucks up to 7.5 GVW to have an increased speed of lOmph above what they were previously allowed on various roads.This took the top speed to 70mph on motorways.
This proves that someone, somewhere, has the power to change our laws. So why is our government standing by while some bureaucrat in Brussels tells us vehicles over 3.5-tonnes and up to 7.5-tonnes will now be limited to 56mph? It extends delivery times and increases congestion.
Come on Mr Blair, you said Britain would still have a right to govern the country as it sees fit. So put your money where your mouth is and take back control of this green and pleasant land, before it grinds to an abrupt halt.
