1 the East Midland Area of Associated Road Operators recently presented its chairman, Mr. W. G. Cooper, with a cocktail cabinet, in recognition of his services to the Associaleion and the industry in the district. The presentationwas made at a members' dinner, held at Woodville and attended by some 40 local operators.
• Mr. W. J. Lloyd presided and Mr. J. Osborne, the youngest member of the Association in the sub-area, made the presentation. Mr. R. W. Kenny, in proposing the toast of Mr. Cooper, said that the policy of the Association is the same as that of any other democratic institution and, indeed, the same as that of the Government of this country.
D.E.U.A. OFFICERS FOR 1941 AS with a number of other institutions, the Diesel Engine Users Association has confirmed the present officers and committee in• their appointments for the year 1941. TRIBUTE TO COMMISSIONER'S OFFICIAL
APRESENTATION was recently made to Mr. A. G. Curtis, of the Regional Transport. Commissioner's office at Nottingham, upon his promotion to chief assistant to the Commissioner at Newcastle-on-Tyne. It was made at a meeting of members of the Lincoln, Scunthorpe and Grimsby Transport Associations, when Mr. Fred 'Peniston, chairman of the Lincolnshire
Transport 'Association, presided. He said that, during their long association • with him, Mr. Curtis had always shown a spirit of courtesy, goodwill and helpfulness towards those with whom he came into contact, and his efforts in dealing with a wide variety of problems had aroused much -appreciation.
