THE Transport Development Group L Ltd. has gone into the Commonwealth. It has made a E3m. bid for Cargo Distributors Ltd., of Melbourne, an Australian undertaking engaged directly and through its 20 subsidiary companies in both local and inter-state road transport, heavy haulage, warehouse keeping. packing and shipping and is the third largest Australian concern in this field.
With headquarters at Melbourne. Cargo Distributors operates more than 1,000 vehicles of all types and has large properties in Melbourne, Sydney. Adelaide, Perth, Darwin and Brisbane and also in Tasmania. The principal subsidiary company began in 1896.
Speaking to a representative of The Commercial Motor this week, the T.D.G. secretary, Mr. R. D. Garwood, said that this offer represented T.D.G.'s first Commonwealth venture and was of special interest in that Cargo Distributors Ltd. was itself a holding company.
T.D.G. has said that if the offer is accepted it will maintain the character of the present company and will continue the existing management and personnel.
