SOME interesting figures concerning the huge development in agriculture in Great Britain have now been released. As a result of the progress made, it is hoped that, in 1942, 5,000,000 tons of shipping, as compared with pre-war figures, will be
saved. The area under tillage has been raised by 60 per cent., i.e., between five and six million acres, since 1939. Animal feeding stuffs to the extent of 12,000,000 tons have also .been grown.
As regards food, the net output in calories• has been increased by 30 per cent. Tractors now number 111,00 compared with a total of 52,00D in June, 1939.
