• That a 40ft semi-trailer with wide-spaced bogie is now offered by Merriworth (Engineering) Ltd., Dartford, Kent, is disclosed in a new sales brochure on the VP 30 and VP 40 models from the firm.
While the VP models have flat platforms with location points for container-locking units, the wide-spread bogie appears on a skeletal trailer that is also illustrated.
Distance from the centreline of the bogie to the rear of the frame is 6ft 6in., this being the same as on the standard 40ft unit but instead of a 4ft 3M. wheelbase the bogie has a 6ft 8.69in. spread (2.05m).
