• May is the month when many operators thoughts turn to tippers, and in particular to the RHA's annual tipper show and conference at Harrogate.
Next week's CM includes a comprehensive preview of Tipcon and focusses on two of the exhibits which are sure to be attention grabbers.
• We have also been talking to Multidrive, a new company with a novel idea — a propeller shaft drive system for semitrailers, that can turn some of the arguments against articulated tippers on their heads.
• Our latest road test vehicle is a tipper, of course. It is Seddon Atkinson's 301 eight-Wheeler with Cummins LT10-250 engine, Norde rubber suspension and 1986 cab trim.
• Not everybody in the tipping business runs an eight-wheeler, or even a 38-tonne artic. For light commercial vehicle operators we take a look at the non-HGV market at 3.5 tonnes to see what kind of bodywork is on offer.
• Freight Rover's 300 Series wide-bodied Sherpa is becoming increasingly popular in passenger carrying roles. We have looked at the potential of several variations on the theme including an extra-long wheelbase 20-seat local bus, a 15-seater non PSV minibus and a 16-seater luxury coach. We report next week.
