In recent issues of CMyou have written about the industry reaction towards Truckfest in the light of foot and mouth.
The overiding impression is of a body of people who are at best confused, at worst misguided. But listen to Mr. Blalr: THE COUNTRYSIDE IS OPEN!
There are several facts that are accessible to anyone that wishes to search for them that clearly point to the going ahead of Truckfest as being the only sensible course of action.
First, there have been NO instances of foot and mouth anywhere near to the East of England Showground at any time during the crisis.
Second, the proximity to the Al has meant that literally hundreds of thousands of vehicles from all over the country have passed the site during the outbreak so a gathering of vehicles over the weekend will not really constitute anything that is new or worrying.
Third, the businesses of the Peterborough district should not suffer the same fate of businesses in Devon and Cumbria and directly lose money because of this country's dithering about over whether it is safe to enter the countryside or not.
I'll be there...will you?
