• The number of hauliers going into administrative receivership in the past 12 months has dropped by over a quarter compared to last year.
But the number of UK wholesalers going into administrative receivership rose by two thirds last month to 31—the largest rise in any industry sector.
Sixty road transport companies called in administrative receivers in the past year, compared to 76 for the whole of 1993.
Last month only two hauliers went into administrative receivership, according to new figures compiled by accountant Touche Ross But the relative rate of reduction of firms going into administrative receivership is slower in haulage than other sectors, says the report.
In the construction industry administrative receiverships have halved so far this year and retail administrative receiverships have dropped by a third.
