• Wastepaper merchant J. and J. Maybank Ltd has recently constructed a new £100,000 two-acre transport site and garage at its factory in Charlton to maintain its fleet of 70 lorries and 120 trailers.
• The garage has two service pits, a lift, greasing and lubricating bay and a trailer maintenance bay. It also has a £4000 ultrasonic vehicle wash. Incorporated into this 8000 sq ft building are the transport department offices, a drivers' room and a large garage store.
In total Maybank has over 250 lorries and trailers operating from 26 sites carrying sorted waste to mills, foundries and factories throughout Europe at a rate of 16,000 tons a week.
