FOUR new airport buses introduced last month in Dusseldorf are believed to be the first articulated vehicles used for this type of service. To provide maximum comfort, only 34 individual armchair seats are fitted in the 54ft-long vehicles which are based on MAN running units. There is ample space for personal baggage next to each seat and there are aircraft-type closed overhead racks for smaller items. Additional slidetype lockers are fitted under the floor of the trailer section. The new vehicles are in use between Dusseldorf Airport and the city centre. There are several intermediate setting-down points at hotels, etc, and passengers signal a request to stop by means of push-buttons in the armrest of their seat.
