A WORCES 1 ERSHIRE haulier faces a £10000 repair bill after vandals smashed up a newly constructed building with two of its loading shovels.
The damage to DC Wilson Haulage's premises in Kidderminster follows diesel thefts worth around £800 in the past month.
The family-run business, which has seven trucks, is offering a £500 reward for information leading to the conviction of the offenders.
Director Mike Wilson wants police to provide more protection. "We've probably spent £10,(X)0 on security fencing, but thieves are always finding a way in," he said.
"The police ought to have more patrols and keep more of an eye out. When something does happen, you can't get them to come."
West Mercia Police say there have been more than 40 diesel thefts in the area since the New Year, including that of 15,000 litres taken from a council refuse depot.
Sergeant John Elliott says: -We believe there are a few gangs operating in the area. We are appealing to people not to buy diesel which they suspect has been stolen."
