The General Election result has given the green light to many hauliers' expansion plans, and there is more business in nearly every Traffic Area. Pressure is so great in the North West that three Licensing Authorities orDeputies from other parts—Mr. C. R. Hodgson, East Midlands, Mr. C. MacDonald, Metropolitan, and Mr. L. H. Shelton, Eastern—have been assisting by presiding over inquiries.
Many agreements concerning the use of contract-A licences have no 'safeguard that vehicles will be economically etnployed. This has come to light since the• Transport Tribunal's ruling that contracts must be produced when applicants seek the transfer of vehicles from contract-A to B licences. Although.. reputable 'concerns give proper contracts, others require investigation.
