NOVEMBER WAS another healthy month for CV registrations with a rise of 9.5% over November 2002. However this figure disguises a fall in truck sales.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), light CV sales rose 11.8% in November, but HGV sales fell by 1.6%. CV sales are predicted to hit 303.000 this year, breaking the 1989 record of 298.836.
Registrations of vans up to 1.8 tonnes fell by 3.3% for the month, though the 2.6-3.5-tonne category increased by 19.6%.
November artic registrations were down 12.7% year on year, but up 10.6% on the year to date. Rigids were up 6.6% for the month and 1.1% for the year to date.
SMM'T chief executive Christopher Macgowen says: "The monthly growth trend has now held firm since March and we are well on target to see the year out on a very high note, with the best annual registration total since 1989."
