WITH AN IMPRESSIVELY detailed description of the mystery truck, thewinnerofourbook review competition (CM 21 December 2006) is Barrie Marshallsay of Wareham, Dorset.
He correctly identified the ex-US Navy Ford GTB: one of 6,000 lowsilhouette 1.5-tonners mostly used for missile transport. It is now fitted with a home-made potato-carrying body but was photographed recently abandoned beside US95 in Idaho. A copy of Will Shiers' book Roadside Relics is on its way.
