A compressor unit for standby use in vehicle maintenance shops in the event of failure of the main compressed-air supply, has been introduced by Motivair Compressors Ltd. The unit merely has to be wheeled into position and connected to a single-phase electricity supply.
The unit comprises a MK 7B twin-cylinder, single-stage, receiver-mounted compressor complete with a bolt-on accessory pack. This pack contains a moisture separator assembly with reducing valve and gauge, a 30ft air hose with quick-release coupling, a Type 333 tyre-pressure controller with inflate /deflate lever, a Wanner 1Ib air-operated grease gun, oil and paraffin guns and a 30ft length of three-core cable.
Other accessory packs for engineering production shop use Dr spray painting, and a preathable air supply can also be supplied. Any pack can be supplied separately.
The compressor is oil-ring lubricated and has a piston displacement of 7.1 cu ft per min and a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi. The unit is driven via twin "A" section ifee-belts by a 1.5 hp electric motor wound for a 220 /240V. 50c/s, single-phase supply: :hree-phase or special motors re available at extra cost.

The receiver is counted on two large section ubber-tyred wheels and is rovided with a lifting handle ind support sprag.
