An electro-magnetic throttle control originally evolved with the disabled driver in mind is now available for use with any motor vehicle. The device is said to be easily fitted and can be set at any throttle position by pressing the control unit button at the required speed.
Pressure on the accelerator immediately overrides the control, producing normal acceleration and returning to the pre-set speed once the foot is removed from the accelerator. Touching of the brake pedal cancels the speed setting and allows normal driving.
Designed as a fail-safe device, in the event of an electrical failure the control is automatically cancelled. Advantages are said to be improved fuel economy and reduced driving fatigue. Installation is by a latch to the throttle pedal /linkage and two wires are connected to the vehicle wiring system.
