The tractive unit is powered .by a Hall Scott six-cylindered petrol
engine of bore and 7-in. stroke. Its R.A.C. rating is about 80 h.p.
Five speeds are .:provided by the normal gearbox, but a• choice of .10 .ratios is made. available through the agency of an auxiliary box. The outfit has been converted for the Irak Petroleum Co., Ltd-. .Normally, the well-boring machinery which !I. will -carry Complete has to be dismantled, transported in sections, and. reasserabled.
Mounted behind the cab are two power winches, whilst a third winch is arranged in a forward position beneath the cab.
Air-pressure braking is employed on both tractive unit and semi-trailerwheels,. whilst, the steering •is air-pressure assisted. An unusual feature of the tractive wilt is that the final drive is by chains. The wheels are equipped with 14.00 by 24 tyres.
The overall, length. of the outfit is 60' ft., arid the width 12 ft. 4 ins. With an unladen weight' of 40 tons; the payloar: capacity is 60 tons.
