riESIGNED for long-distance deliveries of -I-# fresh pork in East and West European countries, a special 47 Cu. metre refrigerated articulated outfit having a g.t.w. of 32 tons is being shown by the Leyland Motors Group at Leipzig Fair (which closes on March 15) in addition to an aircraft fueller, a bulk grain vehicle, a mobile crane and a tractive unit coupled to a Belgian-built semi-trailer.
The Leyland Beaver tractive unit of the refrigerated outfit has a two-berth sleeping compartment and is equipped with an 0.680 diesel engine, a six-speed overdrive gearbox, dual air brakes and an exhaust brake. The Scammell semi-trailer carries a Smiths Litcx body refrigerated by a Petters petrol-engined unit which maintains temperatures down to 20°C.
A special Duramin hopper body is a feature of the bulk grain vehicle, which is based on an Albion Reiver three-axle truck chassis, whilst a Lambert Engineering 6-ton mobile crane is mounted on a Chieftain chassis. The second Beaver tractive unit also incorporates a twoberth sleeping compartment and the Guesens semi-trailer has a TIR tilt-type body.
