• This is the first official picture of Scania's replacement R. cab, which is expected to make its debut this summer. Field trials have now begun for both the R-cab and P-cab replacements.
The rounded corners of the new cab show a clear evolution from the current Streamline cab: The sloping side window lines follow the trend set by Mercedes-Benz, Iveco and ERE. Engine options are likely to include EDC controlled 11 and 14-litre engines with turbo-compounding a possibility for the 14-litre engine. Scania is already evaluating electronic braking systems and these, with Scania's integrated braking system, are also likely to feature on the new models alongside Opticruise, Scania's automated manual gearbox.
