ATRAVELLING showroom with bodywork by Messrs. John Lirnond, of Ayr, on a Commer Avenger chassis has been introduced by the Scottish Gas Board to display washing machines, water heaters, refrigerators and cookers. Three cylinders of coal gas and supply points are contained in a compartment behind the driver's seat.
The body is 34 ft. long, 8 ft. wide and 9 ft. El in. high inside. At the rear are long double doors and steps to enable the display equipment to he loaded more easily. Large doors fitted on the near side open out so that demonstrations can be watched by an audience.
The driver's cab contains a seat for a sales assistant. The seat rotates to face a sales counter immediately behind it. A rack is fitted to the counter to display publicity leaflets.
A microphone is fitted to the rear of the near-side cab window, with a loudspeaker built into the side of the body.
