TRAFFIC COMMISSIONER (TC) for the East of England, Richard Turfitt, has taken away the repute of a transport manager due to his failure to respond to correspondence, to contact the TC’s office and attend a public inquiry. At the September hearing held in Cambridge, Turfitt was told that Wayne Butler had worked for Boston-based haulage contractor David John Allen. Following a maintenance investigation into the firm, a Vosa vehicle examiner wrote to Butler asking him to confirm he was working for the business and the number of hours he committed to his duties as transport manager.
After further letters, and a visit to his residential address, the examiner received a reply three months later, in which Butler said he worked only four hours as Allen’s transport manager, every fortnight.
Turfitt instructed his office to start revocation procedures with respect to Butler’s own O-licence, which is authorised for one vehicle.
