SHOWER FACILITIES at Sandbach services in Cheshire are to be upgraded after an LGV driver took to Twitter to complain about their “woeful” state. Driver Lee Cunningham (@therealtramper) took to the social network site to vent his frustration after stopping at the Roadchef services last week.
Cunningham, who runs two trucks as Cunningham & Daughter (Haulage) doing container work, described the showers for CV drivers as “disgusting, stinky and rotten” and uploaded this photo (left).
When contacted by CM over the complaints, Roadchef said it would begin upgrading the tired facilities immediately. A Roadchef spokeswoman said: “We would like to apologise to this customer for the less-than-acceptable state of the shower area on this day in question. Roadchef prides itself on the cleanliness of its facilities and so this situation is highly embarrassing.” She added that there are plans to implement a key exchange system – where users hand in their vehicle keys in return for the shower key and the shower is then checked by a member of staff before the keys are returned – to ensure “a clean and hygienic environment”.
