• The Home Office expects to publish Its final proposals on reforming the law on involuntary manslaughter (which includes a new offence of corporate killing) within the next few weeks. The corporate killing offence is designed to penalise companies where death occurs as the result of "management failure" regarding the health and safety of employees.
A spokeswoman for the Sentencing and Offences Unit at the Home Office reports: "Legislation will be introduced as soon as parliamentary time allows."
Transport lawyer Stephen Ifirkbright adds: "My understanding is that It is on the government's list of priorities for the next parliamentary session."
