A HAULIER JAILED for swindling creditors out of £.2m has failed to overturn a confiscation order that required him to hand over £181,000 of his ill-gotten gains.
Christopher Trietline was jailed for five years at Canterbury Crown Court in February 2001 for his involvement in running three haulage firms into the ground (CM 7 March 2002). Deadman Transport, Deadman Tfansport (Midlands) and Deadman Groupage continued to trade illegally when insolvent, leaving creditors £.2rn out of pocket when they were wound up in 1996-97.
Sitting at London's Appeal Court, Lord Justice Waller said the trial judge had been "quite right" not to accept accounts submitted on Trietline's behalf.
