THE Railway Executive has inviter! Manchester Corporation to enter into two agreements designed to settle. without resort to litigation, the liability for 'damage arising out of the use of vehicles belonging to the Executive or the corporation on the highway.
The corporation has already entered into the agreement in respect of vehicles owned by the transport department, but it has not yet been decided whether to extend it to cover other corporation vehicles and properly.
One agreement covers vehicle collisions, and railway vehicles sustaining damage by running into excavations or obstructions created, by the corporation. . Each party is to bear the cost of repairing its. own vehicles up to £500. If the cost exceeds this amount, the excess is to be dealt with on the merits of legal liability.
In the case of damage to property. covered by the other agreement, the party owning the vehicle* concerned shall bear repair costs up to £250, any excess to be dealt with on legal liability merits.
