AFTER applying for continuation of their three-vehicle B licence, last week, Messrs. 1„ Baggot and Sons, Rawcliffe Bridge, near Goole, coal merchants, were granted a renewal for. one vehicle only by the Yorkshire Deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. J. H. A. Randolph. They admitted that two of the vehicles were off the road.
Asked why he was applying for three vehicles when one had been unlicensed since December, 1955, and another since September, 1956, Mr. J. Baggot said he had paid a lot of money for the haulage
n2 side of his business and was trying to keep it alive.
Other hauliers had taken the work formerly done by these two vehicles, he added. The one in use was carrying industrial coal and occasional furniture removals in addition to his own work, and there was now too much work for it.
Mr. Randolph said he was not satisfied that any more than one vehicle should go on the licence. If Mr. Baggot wanted to licence another vehicle he should make a fresh application and bring evidence of need.
