ALL overtime working was banned last week by the Chester-le-Street branch of the Transport and General Workers' Union. This followed payment by the Northern General Transport Co., Ltd., of the 3s.-a-week increase which the unions rejected. The ban affected 60 bus crews.
A statement by the Union declared that any emPloyee who worked overtime would be fined to the extent of the extra wages by the branch committee.
For the second successive week, work stopped on Saturday at three South Wales bus depots—J. James and Sons, Ltd., the South Wales Transport Co., Ltd., and United Welsh Services, Ltd. This was another protest against the employers' policy of paying the rejected increase. At these depots it is unlikely that there will be any services tomorrow.
