AGRANT of £636,750 has been made by the Minister of Transport towards the cost of widening Cheapside, London, between Foster Lane and Old Jewry. Work is expected to start shortly. The scheme will cost £849,000. At present, Cheapside is only 48 ft. wide, with a 30-ft. carriageway. The improvement will provide a width of 74 ft., with a 44-ft. carriageway.
