lin the use of rubber pads at level crossings is mentioned in the annual report of the Natural Rubber Development Board. Such pads may be laid down to provide a smooth crossing for road vehicles, and are used in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. There are over 25,000 level crossings in Britain.
