• In the article "The Bigger They Are..." (CM 5-11 July 20011 we incorrectly stated that earlier this year the t affic Commissioner curtailed Exel Europe Limited's fleet by 96 vehicles and 95 trailers. In fact the fleet was curtailed by 16 vehicles and 22 trailers.
The majority of the convictions related to breaches of the London Lorry Ban and we also acknowledge that the TC's purpose in curtailing Exel's 0-licence was partly to enable the company to demonstrate to its drivers that further transgressions could lead to revocation. None of the offences considered by the IC involved breaches of drivers' hours regulations and we regret any suggestion that the company's conduct might have been such as to justify revocation or disqualification of directors.
In addition, we did not Intend to suggest that Exel encouraged its drivers to break the law and regret any distress and embarrassment caused to Exel by such a suggestion.
