SCOTTISH and Newcastle Breweries is now using 45 Boalloy Tautliner curtain-sided semi-trailers, in place of flat trailers, for long-distance keg beer deliveries from its Edinburgh Brewery.
Load-securing time is said to he halved with no loss of carrying capacity.
Strengthening is added to the standard roof structure and the platform floor is made up of I6mm (in) plywood ' sandwiched between alloy chequerplate on the top and galvanised steel beneath. The Tautliners are based on Dyson 11.7m (38ft lin) lightweight chassis which are fitted with Dunlop Stabilair suspension, stopmaster twin-leading-shoe self-adjusting brakes and super single tyres. A spiral fixed ratchet lever is fitted to the side curtain tensioning pole in place of the usual detachable lever.
