• An experimental automaticguided vehicle for intermodal terminals and ports is being developed by Daimler-Benz.
The driverless 12.2m load carrier can cope with a 38-tonne payload and has all-wheel steering. It is powered by an underfloor 177kW (237hp) engine with automatic transmission.
Driving commands are transmitted through a guide wire system or a Dutch-designed FROG (free ranging on grid) method, planned for use at a new container terminal in Rotterdam.
Look no hands: new driverless carrier.
