• Transport Secretary Malcolm Rifkind has announced 24 new road schemes costing £24m, and warned that key road plans are under threat if Labour wins the election. Some of the schemes set for this year if the Tories are re-elected are: a widening of the M25 between J15 and J16; a second Severn Bridge approach road; extending the Brighton bypass and an M56 widening.
