• A driver employed by an Arbroath firm did not think one of his company's lorries was fit for the road but he obeyed instructions and drove it, it was stated at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court recently.
On the way from Arbroath to Methil he had trouble with the vehicle and when he reached his destination he asked the police to contact a vehicle examiner.
An examination revealed a number of defects and the firm, Robb Brothers (Inchcape Minerals) Ltd, Dishlandtown St., Arbroath, was fined £100 when it pleaded guilty to five charges relating to brakes, bodywork, steering, lights, and silencer. Four previous convictions were admitted.
