• Volvo Truck Corporation's boss Sten Langenius says the Swedish Truck manufacturer is in no hurry to follow the arrival of the latest FH range with more new products.
At a business seminar in London last week Langenius confirmed that while the FH range is the first step in a family of new trucks, "we feel first of all that FL6 and the FL product range are very competitive products— there's no need to rush into introducing any new product range." on the production side."
The launch of the FH with a new cab and engine marked a departure from Volvo's normal "evolutionary" product philosophy. According to Volvo Trucks (GB) the company is likely to stick with less radical product changes in the short term with minor improvements made to the current FL tractor and rigid range.
With the increase in demand for more power Volvo Trucks (GB) is set to look for more torque out of the 9.6-litre straight-six in the FLIO.
Alternatively it might fit the new 12.1-litre electronic engine if it can be squeezed under the lower cab.
