• Multi-Cargo Systems Ltd, announces the completion of the first British order incorporating the Multiloader body interchange system which has been in use on the Continent for nearly 10 years.
The vehicle and its two bodies are operated by G. and R. Lee (Claverley) Ltd, providing rapid service of farm produce to the wholesale markets of Birmingham and Wolverhampton. The company anticipates considerable operational economies by leaving a full body at one market for unloading while the second is being delivered elsewhere. Using the Multiloader system, the body changeover can be achieved in approximately three minutes. and as the driver has only to reverse the first 12in. under the free-standing body, the need for very accurate alignment of chassis and body is eliminated.
The unit, supplied by B. Billingham. of Wolverhampton, is based on a Ford D1411 I56in. wheelbase chassis cab and gives an 8.5 tons payload per body. The bodywork, with three-way access, was built by Brade-Leigh Products Ltd. of West Bromwich. using the Clark Kit principle.
The sole UK franchise for the Multiloader principle is held by Multi Cargo Systems Ltd.. West Bromwich, Staffs.
