It was a slightly embarrassed Len Evans who sat at the top table for the annual luncheon of the PTA's Central London area last week. This faithful servant of Shell was described in his own seating plan as an employee of Esso. When the chairman announced that Len would be giving up the secretary's post at the next agm it seemed to confirm that he had moved away from Shell. However, I am happy to report that this is not the casein fact Len is more entrenched than ever in the Strand, as he has been given a much wider area of responsibility.
Did I imagine it or did he really look relieved at the suggestion that he might lose another secretary's post on Monday when the Transport Manager's Licence committee meets again? There have been whisperings that this will be the farewell party, since at least two prominent TML committee bodies are rumoured to be pulling out.
