Aitken's request for a second Deputy Traffic Commissioner in addition to Richard McFarlane has been successful, "Scotland is a separate legal system," she said in the TCs report, and using deputies appointed for England and Wales is not an appropriate solution."
The powers-that-be have listened — the job is being advertised, and Aitken anticipates her new deputy will be active by February. "It's important to have someone else who is familiar with Scottish law. We need local people who know their areas, road conditions and type of industries."
