Last year's big story, the Channel Tunnel f ire. officially ended on 10 February when services resumed, but the knock-on effects continued well into the year as Lurotunnel began the delicate task of restoring lost volume without slashing prices.
The company has just begun to positively market itself again, but the emphasis is on the benefits rather than on aggressive pricing.
Having been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, it's particularly keen to highlight the environmental benefits through measures such as reducing the speed of night-time trains, more energy-efficient tunnel cooling and purchasing electricity from 'low-carbon' sources in France, where nuclear energy is more widespread.
