The final link in the chain is a comprehensive road safety programme for NGN 's drivers, which has also been developed by Gary Banister and his team. The scheme is known as 'Reducing Road Risk', and educates NGN personnel in all aspects of safer driving," he states. "Our work here is ongoing because the safety message needs to be continuously reinforced."
With all of the work to date, the effect so far has been dramatic. NGN's accident rate is falling by 15% year on year. Right now, it's down to just one reported incident in every 185,000 miles not a bad result by any measure, but one which Banister and his team are intent on improving further.
