• The IRTE is considering participation in transport affairs with other professional bodies at home and in other countries. This was intimated by Lord Chesham when he retired from the presidency of the Institute in London last night (Thursday).
Lord Chesham said that "dedication, energy and participation are valuable in any circumstances, but are really effective when clearly channelled". There was no doubt that dedication, energy and enthusiasm were apparent from the membership of the Institute, but his experience in other organizations showed that these qualities, however, were channelled internally, were easily dissipated between bodies with similar interests at international level. Differences of opinion at international level between bodies from the same country weakened the national position. The IRTE council was now working on the proposal that there should be more internal and external co-operation.
