ON I H E DEBATE over speed limiters for lighter vehicles, their introduction seems to be part of the ongoing process of EU rationalisation... pity this can't be done for fuel duty. But haven't drivers of small vehicles always taken them to the limit? And didn't manufacturers encourage speeding by fitting ever more powerful engines, way beyond what was practical for road safety? I've seen some quoted at almost 200hp, which is ridiculous.
Why build a 100mph capacity into a delivery vehicle? It's nonsense.
If only we could have all the best aspects of the EU (such as cheap wine, cigs and diesel, the good wages of Holland and the superior pensions of France and Germany), life would be wonderful. But then without competition, capitalism can't survive.
